Hey guys! I was wondering if any of yall have learned any type of martial arts and how it was as a blind/vi person. I'm really wanting to get into either judo or jiu-jitzu but I really don't know how it'd work because as I understand it, it's watching the instructor how to do it and then copying it...I'm just wondering how yall got around this or maybe I'm thinking of it completely wrongly. I just really want to do this and don't want to go into it and completely fail because it's just not possible
thanks!!!!
I practice chi gong and am learning tai chi. The instructor, or someone from the class who knows the form really well, shows me the moves hand-over-hand and corrects me when I make mistakes.
My belgian friend used to do Judo when he lived there. His dad was european jampian for years, and so he took him to a few classes when he was young, and took to it like a duck to water. While there is a blind/VI version of judo should you want to compete, my friend says you really don't have to learn it, since the regular version is so tactile anyway.
I saw this guy do Tai Kwan Leap as a 12-year-ld kid or so, and thought damn I gotta learn that! The vid has plenty of narration so you know what he's doing.
Yeah, they should be able to teach you hand-over-hand. I've also been interested in learning Juto but I haven't found lessons that would work for my budget.
I have also been interested in judo, but can't find a place to learn around me.
